Stories You Typically Won’t Hear Preached in Church

The Bible is full of good stories. Who hasn’t ever heard of David and Goliath? Or Moses and the Red Sea? Or Peter walking on the water? Or Jesus raising the dead?
It also has its share of stories which do not fit the proper church mold. The following is a list of some of these stories. Look them up. They make for great reading and insightful study.
- Noah getting drunk and naked after the resettling of the Earth
- Simeon and Levi wiping out a whole town after deceiving them — BADLY
- Judah impregnating his own daughter-in-law and trying to have her put to death for adultery
- Moses almost getting killed by God for not circumcising his son
- The elders of Israel and Moses seeing the God of Israel
- Ezekiel’s wife dying — and God’s command concerning it
- Isaiah walking naked and barefoot
- Joab and Amasa
- The decimation of the tribe of Benjamin in the book of Judges — and the reason behind it
- Zelophehad’s unique problem
- The punishment of Miriam and the shame of Aaron over Moses’ wife
- Paul confronting Peter to the face
- 3 John verse 9
Write your comments on what you get out of reading any of these stories.

I’m the youth director at a church. I write curriculum for middle school youth. I was thinking about doing this topic since they have heard the same stories over and over for years now. I’m thinking this would spark some good conversation. Could you send me where these are in the bible? and if you have any other “non-typical” bible stories, let me know! This is great!

Details sent in e-mail. Let me know how this goes and what the reaction is from your youth. I did some of these with a singles group one time. They liked discussing them.
