Click to read: Psalm 1:4
The first look at the life of the ungodly is in comparing them to chaff. In the time of harvest, the reapers go out and gather all the grain they possibly can. Then they bring that grain back to the barns where it is taken to the threshing floor. At the threshing floor, the kernel of wheat is separated from ALL else that was part of the wheat as it grew. People generally do not want to eat chaff bread. They do buy wheat bread.
After a process of breaking the husks and shells and stems away from the heavier and more important kernels, the threshers then use large fans to blow upon the pile. In a few moments of time, all the chaff is blown away from the wheat. Its future is really an end. It will be burned.
How awful it would be to live your entire life doing the things you thought were fun, civil and even important only to see the entire span of your life lifted on the breath of eternity and blown away into a pile with the works of the vilest of men. That is the fate of the ungodly. For being ungodly, no matter how well thought of by men, is to live a life of chaff.
Don’t be blown away. Be blessed with a hunger for God.
