Click to read: Psalm 136:11-12
Another reason for us to give thanks unto God is that He has delivered us from our enemies. We are no longer held in oppression or bondage. Not only that, when God delivered Israel, He took them out from among them. The Israelites not only were free, but they also did not have to look at the faces of their former captors. The emotional struggle which comes from such confrontation did not exist. God took them OUT from among their enemies.
He did this with a display of power so great that there could be no question or further resistance from the enemy. You know how it often happens. One person is angry at another. They argue, and one person always seems to get the better of the other. Occasionally the weaker party will get some relief. Yet the stronger party keeps coming back for more. God completely put an end to this game with the Egyptians and the Israelites. When His mighty judgments were finished upon Egypt at the Red Sea, they did not continue to chase Israel any longer. They had had enough.
I pray today that God will remind you of His strong power and His arm which He stretched out to save you. May you know that His salvation for you is so complete that you are indeed delivered out from your former life, your former ways, and your former enemies. May you know the new life that comes from being His people.
Be blessed,
Craig Thompson
