Today’s Meditation 0 Click to read: Mark 12:18-27 I marvel at the wisdom of God.  I’ve read through the Gospels numerous times, and I am so often amazed at the way Jesus responded to the questions and traps put before Him by the teachers of the law and other religious persons.  We have heard this particular scenario over and over, and we can probably give the story to anyone who wanted to know it.  But just remember again that Jesus may have heard this with His ears for the first time when it was posed to Him.  So put yourself in His shoes and imagine being the one who was given this question to answer.  Tough, huh? Today’s Meditation 0 Click to read: Hosea 11:8-9 Do you consider the Lord to be weak?  Perhaps you have never thought of that before.  Most of us would answer an outright, “No!” without even thinking about it.  We tend to look at people who exhibit this kind of action as weak in our twisted society.  God shows us His strength when He displays mercy.  Here in Hosea, God had every right to judge, destroy and relinquish any relationship with Israel. Yet in the midst of His ponderings, He says that His heart is moving within Him.  He decides that He will not pour out the fierceness of His anger upon them.  Why?  Because He is God, and not man. Today’s Meditation 0 Click to read: Hosea 13:1 Do you want a recipe on how to be great with God?  Here it is.  If you are less sure of yourself and more dependent upon the mercy of God, you are a prime candidate for being exalted.  Although we are not given a specific time in Bible history that this occurred in Ephraim’s history, the fact of it was not lost on God.  He greatly treasure humility of heart and mind and meekness of spirit. Today’s Meditation 0 Click to read: Acts 15:28 Having never lived under the Jewish law, we do not by and large really understand the significance of this statement.  But this was a watershed event in the life of the young Church.  There was a segment of people among the believers who were Jews who sincerely believed that the gentiles who were believing on Christ were not really complete in their salvation unless they were circumcised and committed to keep the Mosaic law.  So they went out to the churches among the gentiles and began to preach this doctrine.  As you can imagine, this caused no small stir both among the young believers as well as the leadership — which included Paul. Today’s Meditation 0 Click to read: Malachi 3:6 Freedom, which we have noted depends upon holiness, ultimately finds its source in the faithfulness of God.  If God were fickle…  Let your mind wander down that road even for one solid minute, and it should give you enough reason to praise the Lord for a while. Today’s Meditation 0 Click to read: Malachi 3:5 After going through the refiner’s fire, I suppose our first expectation is to receive a warm hug and a cup of cold water.  But God says that the next step is for Him to come near for the purpose of judgment.  “Wait a minute!  Didn’t we just come through the fire?” we might be inclined to ask.  The answer is, of course, that we have. But the ungodly have not been through the refiner’s fire.  They do not fear God at all.  Now it’s their turn.
