Click to read: Psalm 136:7-9
Have you ever been forced to dwell in a dimly lit room for any length of time? A relative in our family had some bulbs in their house which were of the 15 to 25 watt variety. In most homes nowadays those are known as night lights, and if you are not used to living around that, it can stress you out to try to read or find the toilet in such dim light. God did not dimly light our world, however. He made ‘great lights.’
When I think of this, I am reminded of the greatness of God to create ‘great lights.’ I remember that the brightness and power of these lights are a picture to our physical eyes of the brightness of His glory. For “God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.” And He gave us these lights in such balance. Moonlight can help you walk across a moor, but it is not very good for growing tomatoes. Sunlight is pleasing to the eye, but continual daylight would scorch the earth and throw our bodies out of cycle.
Give Him thanks! He is a God of wisdom, balance and order. And He is a God of great lights!
Be blessed with light.
